Software as Medical Device (SaMD)

Your mission is to join the team of PhDs, Engineers and Q&R Specialists dedicated to the development and commercialization of a Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) platform. This platform is aimed at helping Surgeons and Medical Device Designers to design, certify, and use innovative software to optimally plan and execute spine surgeries. You will work within a highly competent and motivated team whose purpose is to improve the quality of life of millions of patients around the globe by merging the latest and greatest in engineering technologies and medical sciences.

 

Your Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud-based infrastructures for production deployment.
• Define and manage CI/CD pipelines ensuring smooth, auditable releases.
• Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure product reliability and compliance traceability.
• Provide technical support to customers facing IT related issues.
• Manage and optimize containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Support the back-end developers in improving performance, scalability, and reliability of (micro)services and APIs.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare-grade standards (ISO 13485, GDPR, IEC 62304).
• Write and maintain clear documentation (deployment guides, incident reports, risk assessments) aligned with our QMS.
• Collaborate with software developers, QA, and regulatory teams to bring a high-quality medical software product to market.

Experience

• 3–5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability
Engineering.
• Proven track record of deploying and operating applications in production environments.
• Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, aerospace, automotive) is highly valued.
• Bonus: Previous involvement with SaMD development or regulatory compliance (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 27001).

Academic Background

• Engineering degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems/Cloud Engineering, or related field.
• Continuing professional training or certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or DevOps practices are a plus.

Technical Skills

• Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, GCP, or OVHCloud (secure, compliant deployments preferred).
• Containerization & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (or similar).
• CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitoring & observability: Grafana, Azure Insights, OpenTelemetry (or similar).
• Security & compliance: GDPR, HIPAA, OWASP standards, vulnerability scanning, secrets management.
• Back-end and systems: Linux, networking, (micro)services, APIs (Python stack experience is a plus).
• Scripting languages : Bash, PowerShell.
• Databases: Deployment and scaling of NoSQL systems (e.g., MongoDB).

Soft Skills

• Fluent in English, French is a plus, additional languages welcomed.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Great attention to details, organizational aptitude, and an analytical mind.
• Highly motivated with a “can do” attitude.
• Reliability mindset: Designing for uptime, fault tolerance, and scalability.
• Sensible to quality and compliance. Ability to produce clear and structured documentation for compliance.
• Problem-solving & ownership: Proactive in identifying and addressing system weaknesses.
