MDsim at BASS 2026

MDsim is pleased to announce its participation at BASS 2026 in Aberdeen, where the team has been selected for the “Best of the Best Papers” session.

During the conference, we presented our work:

“From Geometry to Biomechanics: A Patient-Specific Digital Twin Approach to Reducing Mechanical Failure in Spine Fusion.”

The presentation focused on the development and application of patient-specific biomechanical digital twins to improve understanding of spinal surgery outcomes. In particular, the work explores how digital models can be used to:

  • Predict the risk of mechanical failure in long deformity constructs
  • Quantify the impact of segmental alignment on adjacent segment disease in short constructs

The objective is to move beyond static geometric representations toward predictive, patient-specific biomechanics that can support improved surgical planning and decision-making.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the scientific discussion at BASS and to engage with the spine surgery community on advances in digital twin technologies.
